In the Basilica of the Annunciation, in Nazareth, a mass was celebrated on September 25 to thank and salute Mons. Giacinto Marcuzzo in the presence of hundreds of faithful, religious, priests and bishops.

H.E. Mons. PIERBATTISTA PIZZABALLA
Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem
"In these past years, Bishop Marcuzzo has become an integral part of Christian life. The words that may sum up his service are 'presence' and 'simplicity': a constant presence in the territory and simplicity in relations with all Christians, Jews and Muslims.”

Bishop Marcuzzo has served as vicar for Israel for 23 years. Among the countless events that have taken place, it is important to mention the visits of three popes to the Holy Land and also the promotion of a historic diocesan synod.

H.E. Mons. GIACINTO-BOULUS MARCUZZO
Vicar of the Latin Patriarchate for Jerusalem and Palestine
"A summary of all this time lived here can be the family spirit: I have lived every personal, official, pastoral relationship as well as my correlation with different organizations with a family spirit, with a spirit of communion and service and always with a spirit of love."

Now his mission will continue as a Vicar for Jerusalem and Palestine.

"This special friendship and this intimacy with Our Lady in front of this cave, here at Nazareth, have been very beautiful and strong. I hope to continue to live this intimate mother-son relationship with Our Lady in Jerusalem, too.”

The new vicar for Israel, Father Hanna Kildani, a Jordanian priest with a long pastoral experience, a scholar of Christian history in the Holy Land and promoter of interreligious dialogue, celebrated the ceremony.

H. E. Mons. PIERBATTISTA PIZZABALLA
Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem
"I am sure that his presence in the territory and his simplicity in the relationships will continue and he will also bring his many years experience to many parishes of Jordan and will therefore bring a new spirit here in Galilee."

Rev. Father HANNA KILDANI
Vicar of the Latin Patriarchate for Israel
"The model of the Holy Family represents the past, the present, and the future of Nazareth. Every believer who lives here, and I am one of them, has the honor and responsibility to serve this family, in the most spiritual sense, that is, of the sacred family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and in the sense of the extended family: as a Church present in Nazareth, in Galilee, and in all Israel. I hope that our faithful here can give a testimony of love, of welcome to our neighbors and of coexistence.”
