The famous jewellery designer, Ramzi Eweis, from Ramallah, created a special project called "Lady of the Earth" in order to showcase the most important religious and historical landscapes of Palestine.

"Lady of the Earth" is a project I started a couple of years ago. The idea is to give form to the entire Palestinian identity in terms of the geographical, historical and artistic aspects of the Palestinians through the production of a new "product".

"Lady of the Earth" is the name which inspired the project and it comes from a poem by the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwsish, who wrote: "In this land there is the Lady of the Earth, mother of the beginning and the end. It was known as Palestine, now it's known as Palestine"

His first work was a silver ring, within the framework of a series of cultural, religious and historical signs, the most important of which are the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, the Hisham Palace in Jericho, the Port of Gaza, the Clock Tower in Nablus and others.

"The market needs new objects, and customers are looking for new crafts, unique pieces. After investigating the Palestinian market, we discovered that it is generally well served, but it needs to be revived. I then discovered that the ring of the Lady of the Earth is the one that best fits the market. From a historical point of view, I worked on the selection of landscapes by collecting history in different eras, differentiating between one landscape and another, so that they could withstand different eras ".

Ramzi first started about 10 years ago, with a workshop and an exhibition hall specialized in silverware. Wishing to offer products with newly created models ... he found that local markets, as well as foreign ones, were very welcoming of his work.
